Silence –

Silence was what surrounded the camp, the only thing that gave people peace. The only thing that gave them hope. Silence was all they wanted, better than hearing screams.

Sonderkommandos Letter –

Dear , Mom and Dad and brother

I have taken the Sonderkommando job, even though it’s hard for me to watch my own innocent people thrown into hell holes. I got it for the fact to know that’s going to happen to me eventually, little faith i have is gone when i have to throw them in. Faith, hope didn’t matter to me anymore all was gone.

Member of SS-

Today I am working,another day at my job. Yes, its really messed up ,but I feel sympathy at how we trick the jews into thinking they are taking a “shower” little do they know we are leading them to their death. I die inside knowing i can do anything about it.

Death-

Death, many people wanted me to escape from their misery, at this time they think it’s for the best they crave death at this point, no more pain, no more fear, i can bring that.

Suitcases –

Today I have to pack my suitcase, I’m going to pack a few items of clothes shoes to wear along the way and another just in case, a few snacks, a picture of my family, favorite pair of socks, the bible . When i did not receive them back i felt really sad, i would feel the most sad about the family picture because i took that in remembrance about my family, and the Bible because it was my only chance of hope.

Wiesel’s father-
